Foreshore Cleanup Update
The scheduled survey and cleanup of the lagoon foreshore has commenced, with Phase 1 currently underway between Old Settlement and the Aquatic Club (excluding the boat ramp). Items along the foreshore have been recorded and tagged with numbered pink flagging tape. LHIB staff will continue surveying and tagging items south of the Aquatic Club over the coming week.
Please do not remove any tags. If you find your item has been tagged, contact the LHIB with the tag number to confirm ownership and regular use. If you recognise the owner of a tagged item, we encourage you to inform them that they are required to contact the LHIB to claim their item.
Small watercraft and accessories (such as oars and motors) that are claimed and in regular use may be permitted to remain on the foreshore, provided they are stored neatly and do not obstruct access or impact the environment, safety or visual amenity of the area.
Please note that this provision does not apply to the boat ramp area. Storage of small private watercraft and/or trailers (under 6m) is not permitted adjacent to the boat ramp for more than 48 hours. This area will be the final section of the foreshore to be surveyed and tagged as part of the cleanup process.
At the end of August, unclaimed items will be removed from the foreshore and relocated to a LHIB storage area. Owners can reclaim items, subject to payment of a recovery fee, up until 1 October 2025. After this date, unclaimed items will be disposed of or sold in accordance with the Public Spaces (Unattended Property) Act 2021.
Further updates will be provided as the cleanup progresses.
Thank you for your cooperation.
