The Lord Howe Island Board is commencing a third sweep of myrtle rust inspections to occur throughout the settlement. This involves LHIB staff accessing leases to check any myrtaceous plant species for the presence of myrtle rust. At current, we are aiming to complete these fortnightly to ensure the fungus has not spread beyond known infestation sites. Searches in bushland and the PPP have also commenced.

The property inspections will be undertaken on
Wednesday 15th March, Thursday 16th March, Friday 17th March & Monday 20th March between the hours of 8:00AM and 3:30PM.

These inspections are generally quite quick, however length of time required for each search will vary depending on the size of the property and the number of myrtaceous species.

All leaseholders that have previously requested 24-hour notice will be contacted to organise the inspection. If you have not previously requested 24-hour notice, but would like to request this or provide any additional instruction prior to LHIB staff accessing your lease, please notify the LHIB on 02 6563 2066 or [email protected]by 4:30pm Tuesday 14th March.

Yours Sincerely,

Suzie Christensen
