Myrtle Rust – Property Inspections

As part of ongoing efforts to protect Lord Howe Island from myrtle rust, LHIB will be conducting routine monitoring across the settlement area and existing transects in the Permanent Park Preserve.

What is Myrtle Rust?
Myrtle rust is a highly infectious exotic fungus that poses a serious threat to myrtaceous plant species on the Island. The spread of this disease could have significant impacts on the health and diversity of our unique vegetation communities.

Property Inspections:
Inspections will be scheduled between Monday 12 May and Friday 16 May. LHIB will contact leaseholders and tenants in advance to arrange property access for these inspections.

While most inspections will be quick, the time required may vary depending on the size of the property and the number of myrtaceous plants present.

If you have any questions or specific requests, please contact the LHIB office on 02 6563 2066 or via email at [email protected].

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us protect Lord Howe Island’s unique environment.
