Householder - Lord Howe Island Critical Infrastructure Project Environmental Impact Statement Public Exhibition extended to 18 November 2025
The Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Lord Howe Island Critical Infrastructure Project has been on public exhibition since Wednesday 15 October 2025. In response to community feedback, the public exhibition period has now been extended by one week to Tuesday 18 November 2025.
This extension supports community members who have asked for more time and assistance to review the material and prepare their submissions.
The EIS is available at NSW Planning Portal:
Lord Howe Island Critical Infrastructure Project | Planning Portal - Department of Planning and Environment
Please note: This is a legislative requirement under NSW law for all State Significant Infrastructure projects. This system is used across NSW for major projects to provide consistency, transparency and accountability.
Hard copies of the full EIS, including technical reports, are available at the LHIB Office and the Lord Howe Island Museum.
We encourage residents to read the following documents enclosed with this householder to inform your submission
- EIS Executive Summary (PDF)(3.34 MB)
- Concept Plans (PDF)(13.54 MB)
Additional printed copies of these documents will be available at the museum from Saturday if you would like a printed copy and don’t have access to a printer. They will also be available at the Administration during office hours.
Supporting our community to have a say
Through community consultation, we acknowledge that some residents have found it difficult to lodge a submission using the NSW Planning Portal. The Lord Howe Island Board is committed to supporting all members of our community to participate.
Staff will be available Monday, Wednesday and Thursday next week from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at the LHIB Office to:
- help with registering on the NSW Planning Portal
- assist with typing (if required), and
- lodging your submission
- Please come prepared with a clear idea of what you’d like your submission to say. LHIB staff can assist with using the portal and typing your comments, but cannot write submissions on your behalf.
To make an appointment, contact LHIB Administration on 6563 2066 (ext. 15) or email [email protected]
