Khapra beetle larvae were found in Nappy Pants from Woolworths stores across Australia
The Lord Howe Island Board has been notified that Khapra beetle larvae were found in Little One’s Ultra Dry Nappy Pants – Walker size 5, recently distributed to Woolworths stores across Australia.
These nappy pants were only sold through Woolworths. No other sizes or brands are known to be affected at this stage.
The Khapra beetle is a serious biosecurity threat. It is listed as prohibited matter under the NSW Biosecurity Act 2015, and if introduced to Lord Howe Island, could pose a major risk to our unique environment and agriculture.
With the Island’s supply ship due this weekend, we are asking all households and anyone receiving supplies for young children to check all delivered nappies and packaging carefully, especially if you have ordered Little One’s Ultra Dry Nappy Pants.
If you suspect contamination or see signs of insect or pest activity:
• Do not use or dispose of the items.
• If safe to do so, seal the goods and packaging in a bag to prevent any spread.
• Contact the LHIB Biosecurity Team immediately.
