Dozer Track closed until Friday to install beach access mat

Dozer Track closed until Friday to install beach access mat

The final stage of the SCCF - Beach Access project is currently underway. A beach access mat, designed to enhance access to the coastline, has been prepared for installation.

The Dozer Track has been selected as the most appropriate location for the access mat due to multiple considerations. The location will allow individuals to conveniently access the mat by driving up to it. Its central placement also enables accessibility for a larger portion of the community and tourists.

Works to run from this Thursday - Friday
Minor earthworks are required to level the track and enable optimal use of the mat. The dozer track will be closed whilst the work is undertaken.

Operations will commence today (Thursday, 23 November) and are expected to be completed by Friday, 24 November. Unforeseen factors may lead to a potential extension of this timeline.

An environmental assessment has confirmed that the earthworks will have no adverse impact on the surrounding flora and fauna.

A practical solution for equal access
The durable beach access mat is designed to be UV and weatherproof. The mat will be left in place throughout peak season, providing convenient beach access to visitors and locals.

An update on the Beach Access equipment will be shared once the mat installation is complete. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding while we work to improve accessibility on the Island.
