Appointment of Community Representatives to the Community Environment Advisory Committee

LHIB is pleased to announce the appointment of five community representatives to join the Community Environment Advisory Committee (CEAC) for a two-year term, following a strong response to our recent call for Expressions of Interest:

  • Kayla Hiscox
  • Rebecca Shelley
  • Judy Riddle
  • Kellie Ellis
  • Ian Hutton

The CEAC provides strategic, non-binding advice to the LHIB on matters related to environmental management, biodiversity conservation, and biosecurity on Lord Howe Island. In selecting members, LHIB has sought to reflect the island’s values, land uses, and community interests through a diverse mix of local knowledge, perspectives, and expertise.

The Committee plays a key advisory role in reviewing and updating major environmental planning documents, including:

  • The Permanent Park Preserve Plan of Management (PPP PoM) which guides access, conservation priorities, and the management of the island’s most ecologically significant areas.
  • The Biodiversity Management Plan (BMP): Outlines strategic priorities for biodiversity protection, addressing threats such as invasive species, climate change, and habitat loss.

CEAC members also contribute to biosecurity and invasive species strategies and help to strengthen communication between the LHIB and the broader community on environmental matters.

We sincerely thank everyone who submitted an Expression of Interest. If you were not selected this time, we encourage you to apply in future rounds.
