Applications open for Field Officers

LHIB has an opportunity for two full-time Field Officers, based locally, to contribute towards the care and maintenance of built assets, conservation of the natural environment and provision of services to the community and visitors of the Island.

The roles are temporary, one up until June 2024 and the other until December 2027.

About the role
As Field Officer, you will undertake construction, maintenance and improvements to facilities and ground areas including the aerodrome, buildings, waste management facility, roads, signs, public areas, fences, walking tracks.

You will also operate plant and equipment, ensuring the public have access to high-quality and safe facilities.

You will undertake pest and weed management activities and revegetation/rehabilitation of degraded areas to ensure the natural and cultural heritage is preserved.

The rewarding role will contribute to the preservation and enhancement of biodiversity and the Island’s significant natural, cultural and economic values, by carrying out tasks allocated through the field programs. This will ensure the public has access to appropriately maintained and safe recreational and public facilities and that the LHIB’s obligations and aims are met.

Essential requirements 

  • Current Australian drivers licence (minimum class C)
  • Ability to obtain CHEMCERT certification
  • Ability to obtain a First Aid Certificate
  • Ability to obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) – applicants for an ASIC undergo a Criminal Check, a Politically Motivated Violence Check and a Citizenship Status Check
