Myrtle Rust – Property Inspections

The Lord Howe Island Board is commencing a fifth sweep of myrtle rust inspections to occur throughout the settlement. This involves LHIB staff accessing leases to check all myrtaceous plant species for the presence of myrtle rust. At current, we are aiming to complete these fortnightly to ensure the fungus has not spread beyond known infestation sites.

The property inspections will be undertaken on business days from Wednesday 19th April to Wednesday 26th April between the hours of 8:00AM and 3:30PM. Please note that this excludes weekends and public holidays.

These inspections are generally quite quick, however the length of time required for each search will vary depending on the size of the property and the number of myrtaceous species.

All leaseholders that have previously requested 24-hour notice will be contacted to organise the inspection. If you have not previously requested 24-hour notice, but would like to request this or provide any additional instruction prior to LHIB staff accessing your lease, please notify the LHIB on 02 6563 2066 or
[email protected]by 4:30pm Tuesday 18th April.

Yours Sincerely,

Suzie Christensen
