Second helicopter winch operation to commence from Wednesday, 14 Feb

The second and final window of this summer’s helicopter winch operation will open from Wednesday, 14 February and is expected to close by Monday, 4 March 2024.

During this time, members of the LHIB Environment and Community Services Unit and external contractors will be air-lifted to hard-to-access areas as part of the Weed Eradication Program.

Set dates for the operation, including helicopter arrival and departure, are weather dependant and will be confirmed as soon as they are known.

In addition to critical weeding in the Southern Mountains, the helicopter will be used to deposit and retrieve materials for priority track maintenance across the Permanent Park Preserve, and repositioning ropes along the Mt Gower track.

Specific timings will be confirmed closer to the weather dependent work, as well as any planned track closures and traffic management.
