Essential maintenance of the jetty will be undertaken from Tuesday, 27 February – Friday, 5 April 2024. The works by Polaris Marine Construction are aimed at ensuring the safety and longevity of the jetty.

Work hours: 6:30am – 4:30pm, Monday – Sunday.

Swimming and fishing from jetty: During the work hours (6:30am – 4:30pm), visitors and community members are not permitted to swim or fish off the jetty.

Walking access and safety: Access to the jetty via the walkway will remain open. For safety reasons, the areas undergoing maintenance will be fenced off. We ask you to respect the safety measures in place and be mindful of the ongoing construction activities.

Boating access: The jetty’s lower landing can be utilised by boats exclusively for commercial and recreational boating operations. Please be aware that divers will be present in the water to focus on the steel pile maintenance.

Urgent requirements: Contact the LHIB Administration Office (02 6563 2066; [email protected]) with any urgent requirements for jetty usage outside of lower landing usage. Works will need to be paused safely to accommodate any necessary activities.

Scheduled repairs: Various maintenance tasks will be undertaken, including replacement of select kerbs, decking, fenders, fender pile rubbing strips, and sheer chains. Significant attention will be given to the steel piles underneath the jetty.

The repairs have been timed with Birdon’s month of drydocking to ensure a longer period of uninterrupted access to the jetty. The repair schedule has been designed to maximise efforts to complete the works in a timely manner.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this maintenance period.
