The Lord Howe Island Board has completed a major audiovisual technology upgrade at the Public Hall and Annexe, providing improved facilities for community events, meetings, performances and online participation.

The upgrade delivers modern, easy-to-use technology designed to support a wide range of activities while maintaining the character of this important community space.

What this means for you
The new system will support:

• community meetings and presentations
• movie nights and screenings
• performances and events
• workshops and training sessions
• Board meetings
• hybrid meetings with participants joining remotely via video conferencing.

The technology has been designed to be simple to operate, making it easier for community groups, volunteers and venue users to access the hall's facilities.

The Board is also continuing to consider other barriers to community use identified through our community consultation group, including hire fees and access arrangements.

Supporting Community Use
The Public Hall is an important gathering place for the Island community, supporting events, education, training, meetings and entertainment throughout the year. The audiovisual upgrade replaces ageing equipment with a more reliable and user-friendly system, improving sound quality, presentations, online connectivity and opportunities for remote participation. The technology has been installed with consideration for the hall’s heritage character and complements planned acoustic improvements, helping the facility meet current and future community needs.

The Public Hall audiovisual and emergency communications upgrade was proudly funded by the NSW Government through the Stronger Country Communities Fund.
