Householder – Operational window for Helicopter Lance Spot Spray Operations has commenced
The operational window for Helicopter Lance Spot Spray Operations commenced on 1 June 2026.
The aircraft will arrive once a suitable weather window is identified, with additional notification provided once transit has been confirmed.
Track Closures
Track closures are required to ensure public safety during helicopter lance spot spraying operations. To minimise impacts to track users, only affected tracks will be closed while the helicopter is operating in the immediate area.
The location of daily operations is influenced by several factors, including seabird activity, weed density, and localised weather conditions. Unfortunately, this makes it difficult to provide advance notice of exact dates and times for track closures.
Track monitoring staff will walk tracks ahead of closures to ensure no members of the public are present during operations. Signage will be installed, and staff will be stationed at track heads during closures to advise the public of access restrictions.
No-Drone Zone
For aviation safety, an island wide no-drone zone will be in place for the duration of helicopter operations. Drones pose a serious hazard to aircraft.
Please refer to the map below. The yellow area indicates the no-drone zone while the aircraft is operating.
Drone use in this area is regulated under the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998 (enforced by CASA) and, within the Permanent Park Preserve, under the Lord Howe Island Regulation 2014.
