Windy Point Erosion Protection Works

Throughout the first half of 2015, a number of concerns were raised with the Board regarding accelerated erosion at the end of the sand filled bag wall at Windy Point, which resulted in slumping of some of the bags.

Making Weeds History on Lord Howe Island, June 2015

The Lord Howe Island Board, McDermott Aviation, the NSW Environmental Trust and the Australian Government’s National Landcare programme made weeds history in June 2015 using purpose built helicopter lance spray equipment to combat invasive weeds on World Heritage listed Lord Howe Island.

The Lord Howe Island Board are undertaking resurfacing and drainage works at the Lord Howe Island Aerodrome during the months of June, July and August 2015.

LHI Hybrid Renewable Energy Project

Findings from the assessment were positive.

Predicted sound levels from the wind turbines are below Draft NSW Wind Farm Guidelines for all properties on the Island. Also, background noise on the Island is high so sounds from the turbines will be effectively masked.
