As most people are aware, in 2015 the LHI Board committed to a process for resolving an outcome for the proposed Rodent Eradication Project by agreeing on a planning and approval stage, at the end of which time a decision would be made about whether the project would proceed or not. This is outlined in the diagram below.
The LHI walking track network provides almost 24km of walking experiences on 22 tracks. Walking is one of the primary activities associated with nature based tourism on LHI, is a popular recreational activity for residents and provides opportunities to gain an understanding of LHI’s unique natural and cultural values.

In 2014 the Hon. Ken Handley AO QC was engaged by the NSW Government to review the land allocation and tenure systems on Lord Howe Island and provide advice to the Minister for the Environment.
There has been a massive response to the wind turbine DA in the community so the public exhibition period has been extended by two weeks to give people more time to make their submissions and to continue the conversation. The new closing date is Friday 28 October.
