Flesh-footed and Wedge-tail Shearwaters are particularly vulnerable and it is not uncommon to find them lying on the roads at dusk and at night. Particular hot spot areas for seabird activity include Skyline Drive, Neds Beach Road, the top of Joy's hill on Middle Beach Road and the Windy Point area.

The 2011 results recorded the highest number of Woodhens ever surveyed since annual censoring began in 1986, with a total number of 229 birds recorded for the year (of which 134 were new birds). Using this data the population is estimated at 270 birds.

The next phase of the construction commenced on 1 February when the builder, BDM Constructions, commenced work on site. Works have rapidly progressed over recent months with the concrete foundations and slab poured and structural steel, wall and roof frames completed in March with the building work to be completed in May.
