The Board has now submitted a Referral to the Australian Government Minister for the Environment under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) for the proposed Lord Howe Island Rodent Eradication Project.
EPBC Act has a statutory public comment period of 10 business days. The Department of the Environment has advised that the public exhibition period will commence Tuesday 17 May 2016 and run until Monday close of business Monday 30 May 2016.
A householder (distributed to all Island residents via Australia Post) provides details of where to find the full referral and how to make submissions. The full referral, supporting documents and a copy of the householder can be found on the Rodent Eradication Community Information page.
