The dispenser is designed to hold a limited amount of nutritionally beneficial fish pellets that tourists and visitors can use (as an alternative to using human food) to feed the fish in the Neds Beach Special Purpose Zone within the Lord Howe Island Marine Park.
The dispenser will be coin operated and will allow a set amount of pellets per use with a daily limit to control the amount of food entering the water. The dispenser has a small information sign located on one side that will provide details on use and the benefits of pellets for a healthy marine environment.
It is proposed that a Lord Howe Island resident will take ownership of the dispenser, be responsible for its management, maintenance and keep all profits generated.
An Expression of Interest document to own and manage the dispenser can be collected at the MPA Office, Bowker Ave (next to the Administration Office) during office hours. You can contact Marine Park Manager, Ian Kerr on (02) 65632359 for more information.
