Application process for travel to Lord Howe Island
A process is being established in order to provide certainty to those intending to travel to Lord Howe Island as well as to the airlines, with regard to whether someone has approval to travel to Lord Howe during the period of the Public Health Order.
The process involves completing an application form that will be available for download from the LHIB website from 31 March 2020. This process applies to ALL residents, non-residents and essential services wishing to travel to the island. Following receipt of the application a determination will be made by the LHIB or Coordinator General as required under the Order.
Tighter requirements for gatherings and social distancing
You may have heard the Prime Minister last night talking about the new more stringent requirements for gatherings and social distancing.
It is important to note that NSW requirements apply to Lord Howe.
We are seeking to clarify exactly what this means for Lord Howe and aim to communicate this with you in our next Householder (scheduled for tomorrow).
It is understood that changing requirements are confusing. It is also noted that there are different requirements for social gatherings compared with workplace requirements. The purpose of this is to minimise the spread of the virus infection whilst still allowing for important services to the community to continue to operate.
At the LHIB we have been adjusting our workplace practices and we will continue to review and adjust them in order to maintain the islands services, whilst understanding that our top priority at this time is the health and safety of our community.
