The Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act) commenced on 1 July 2010 and requires agencies to make certain information publicly available. This information is called 'open access information' or 'mandatory release information'.
The Lord Howe Island Board's open access information includes the following:
Information about the LHIB contained in any document tabled in Parliament by or on behalf of the LHIB (other than any document tabled by order of either House of Parliament)
A disclosure log of access applications
The Government Information (Public Access) Regulation 2009 prescribes additional open access information that Government Departments, Statutory Bodies and Local Authorities must make publicly available.

Informal Access Requests
Open access information that is not available on the website can be accessed by completing a GIPA Act Application Form and ticking Informal Request.
The LHIB may allow access to other information it holds by way of an informal access request in accordance with Part 2, Division 1, Section 8 of the GIPA Act.
Formal Access Requests
Access to LHIB information that is not available via an informal access request can be applied for by completing a GIPA Act Application Form and ticking Formal Application.
An application fee of $30.00 applies for Formal Applications and a processing fee of $30.00 per hour may also apply.
