Maintaining the Island's public assets

The Infrastructure and Engineering Services section of the Lord Howe Island Board is responsible for maintaining Lord Howe Island's public assets, Lord Howe Island Board assets, and waste management.

Public assets include the island's road network, public spaces including BBQ areas, electricity network and power generation, the Lord Howe Island Aerodrome, Jetty, Waste Management Facility and public buildings including the Gower Wilson Memorial Hospital and Community Hall.

Board assets also include staff residences, leaseable buildings such as the post office, plant and equipment, and the vehicle fleet.

Annual program of works

Each financial year the Lord Howe Island Board (LHIB) approves a program of works and maintenance activities through the establishment of the annual LHIB budget. The budget outlines the activities that will be undertaken by the Infrastructure and Engineering Services (IES) section of the Lord Howe Island Board during that budget period.
